Shapes and Sizes Of A Dovecote

A dovecote is a dove or pigeon house that is either rounded or square with access points for the birds to enter. Dovecote’s were often built into the side of a farm building or home. Doves and pigeons were a primary food in early European history which made having one of these bird houses a cheap source of food. Many dovecotes were traditionally built for ready access to eggs and protein from the birds.

Through the years, dovecote’s have evolved from the use of a food source into one of enjoyment. People around the globe build or construct a dovecote to attract pigeons and doves for viewing pleasure at their homes.
